چکیده

We study the communication primitives of broadcasting (one-to-all communication) and gossiping (all-to-all communication) in known topology radio networks, i.e., where for each primitive the schedule of transmissions is precomputed based on full knowledge about the size and the topology of the network. We show that gossiping can be completed in O(D+ Δ log n logΔ−log log n ) time units in any radio network of size n, diameter D and maximum degree Δ = Ω(log n). This is an almost optimal schedule in the sense that there exists a radio network topology, such as: a Δ-regular tree in which the radio gossiping cannot be completed in less than Ω(D + Δ logn logΔ ) units of time. Moreover, we show a D+O( log 3 n log log n ) schedule for the broadcast task. Both our transmission schemes significantly improve upon the currently best known schedules in Gąsieniec, Peleg and Xin [PODC’05], i.e., a O(D +Δ log n) time schedule for gossiping and a D + O(log n) time schedule for broadcast. Our broadcasting schedule also improves, for large D, a very recent O(D + log n) time broadcasting schedule by Kowalski and Pelc.

A Survey on Multicast Routing Approaches in Wireless Mesh Networks

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) which mediates the broadband Internet access, have been recently received many attentions by the researchers. In order to increase capacity in these networks, nodes are equipped with multiple radios tuned on multiple channels emerging multi radio multi-channel WMNs (MRMC WMNs). Therefore, a vital challenge that poses in MRMC WMNs is how to properly assign channels ...

Asymptotic Close to Optimal Resource Allocation in Centralized Multi-band Wireless Networks

This paper concerns sub-channel allocation in multi-user wireless networks with a view to increasing the network throughput. It is assumed there are some sub-channels to be equally divided among active links, such that the total sum rate increases, where it is assumed each link is subject to a maximum transmit power constraint. This problem is found to be a non-convex optimization problem and i...

Spectrum Assignment in Cognitive Radio Networks Using Fuzzy Logic Empowered Ants

The prevalent communications networks suffer from lack of spectrum and spectrum inefficiency. This has motivated researchers to develop cognitive radio (CR) as a smart and dynamic radio access promised solution. A major challenge to this new technology is how to make fair assignment of available spectrum to unlicensed users, particularly for smart grids communication. This paper introduces an i...

A CSA Method for Assigning Client to Servers in Online Social Networks

This paper deals with the problem of user-server assignment in online social network systems. Online social network applications such as Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram are built on an infrastructure of servers that enables them to communicate with each other. A key factor that determines the facility of communication between the users and the servers is the Expected Transmission Time (ETT). A ...

Quasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks

Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...
